In preparation for sending a representative to the Gallatin County 2016 Spelling Bee on Saturday, Feb. 27, Petra Academy will host our own 5th-7th grade version next Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the Petra Performance Hall. Parents and guests are invited to attend. For questions, contact your teacher or email Grammar Principal Mark Christofferson.
Whether you stick around after drop-off or come early for the Spelling Bee, Mr. Dunham and Mr. Christofferson invite you to have a “Second Cup” of coffee and get your re-enrollment questions answered next Wednesday morning, Feb. 17., in the cafeteria anytime between 8:30-10:30 a.m. Mr. Dunham is also looking for centrally-located families to host evening versions of this meeting, which he’s calling “Last Cup.” Families interested in hosting or attending these evening meetings should email Mr. Dunham with preferred dates and times.
Tickets are now on sale for Petra Academy’s family-friendly production of Tom Jones! The show runs February 25-27 , with performances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night at 7 p.m., and a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. Purchase yours today!
Petra’s Winter Break is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, February 8-9. The school will be closed those two days. Other school-wide dates of note on our calendar:

We’re bringing back Second Cup! We’ll make the coffee; you make plans to stay after Recitation this Friday for a “second cup” of coffee to connect with other Petra parents. Coming in February, watch for several themed Second Cups – “Growing into Grammar,” “Leaping to Logic,” “Rising to Rhetoric” – with our Education Team (Mrs. Stohlmann, Mr. Koenen, Mr. Dunham, and Mr. Christofferson) to learn more about making good transitions across grades. We want to help!
Petra students and families are invited to attend The Veritas Forum’s “Our Place in the Universe,” a debate on why we are here, moderated by Petra Academy’s own Gregg Valeriano. All are invited to attend a catered discussion immediately following the event in the Union Market.
