Petra Academy’s board members are chosen for their passion for the vision of classical and Christian education and their love of the joyful pursuit of excellence in learning. Board meetings are open to the public and typically held the first Tuesday of each month at 3:45 p.m. in the Petra library.

Parent Representative

Originally from the bayou country of Shreveport, Louisiana, Mr. Handley’s family settled in Bozeman in 2012 in an effort to be closer to his wife Wendy’s family, who are from the area. Wendy and Taylor have four young children. Mr. Handley is a physician, specializing in diagnostic and interventional radiology and practice at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital. He worships at Trinity Church, where he serves in various ministries.

When Mrs. Storebo first learned about Petra years ago, she was immediately drawn to the classical Christian model. Her family has been part of the Petra community since 2007, when her oldest, now a secondary student, entered kindergarten. Mrs. Storebo and her husband, David, have two children who both attend Petra. She has served on the board since 2012. A graduate of Biola University, Mrs. Storebo is a strong proponent of lifelong learning, holds a Master of Education degree from Colorado State University, and enjoys serving as a staff member at Trinity Church.

Having grown up on a farm in the Gallatin Valley and a board member since January 2009, Mrs. Ungersma and her husband, Rick, have two children at Petra Academy and deeply appreciate classical Christian education. They love to travel and camp with their two children, as well as their dogs, Buster and Bogee.

Mr. Laird and his wife Elizabeth have five children, four of whom attend Petra Academy with the eldest, a Petra alumnus, now studying computer science at Baylor University. Chad is founder of Southwest Montana Properties, a local firm involved in private equity placement. The Laird family attends Grace Bible Church in Bozeman and is excited to contribute to the fulfillment of the Petra Academy mission and the growth of classical Christian education in Montana.

Parent Representative

Mrs. Terry has been a Petra parent since 2011 and her three young children are grateful to be part of the Petra community. Dana was born and raised in Montana and earned her bachelor’s degree at Montana State University. For nearly two decades, Dana has worked as a Human Resources professional in several capacities with Fortune 200 companies and has thoroughly enjoyed this field. She and her husband, Bill, are active members and part of the leadership board at Dry Creek Bible Church.
